Genasys Technologies announces ‘insurtech evangelist’ Ed Halsey as VP of Marketing

Leading insurance software solutions provider Genasys Technologies has named insurtech expert Ed Halsey as its new Vice President of Marketing, based in the UK.

With a career spanning more than 20 years, Ed brings a rare blend of industry insight, digital innovation and marketing strategy. A former commercial insurance underwriter, he began his journey at some of the biggest names in the sector, including AXA, Aviva and Allianz. His early grounding in frontline insurance operations gave him a deep appreciation for the challenges faced by insurers, brokers and MGAs. This insight would later shape his approach to marketing and technology.

As his career evolved, Ed transitioned from underwriting into senior roles across software sales and marketing, building a strong reputation for his ability to translate complex technologies into meaningful business benefits. His fascination with behavioural science and the psychology of decision-making has long underpinned his marketing philosophy. He believes that successful communication must bridge emotional and rational drivers.

In recent years, Ed has become a prominent voice in the insurtech space. Through his consultancy, Evermore Digital, he created a range of educational content and web series that aimed to demystify insurance technology, automation and artificial intelligence for brokers and insurers alike. A passionate advocate for digitisation with a human touch, Ed’s thought leadership helped shape a broader conversation around the future of insurance, blending practical advice with sharp commentary.

That thought leadership was not limited to theory. Ed put his ideas into action as Chief Operating Officer and co-founder of Taveo (formerly known as Hubb), a digital-first insurance brokerage that aimed to redefine the broking experience. Under Ed’s leadership, Taveo built and scaled a platform that automated many of the administrative burdens traditionally faced by brokers. The result was a business model that returned brokers to what they do best: providing high-value advice and building relationships with customers. His successful exit from Taveo capped off a period of intense innovation and growth, cementing his reputation as a genuine changemaker in the industry.

His move to Genasys now represents a natural progression in his journey as an ‘insurtech evangelist’. Genasys is a challenger brand with a bold mission to make insurance easier and more rewarding for insurers, MGAs and brokers. Its flexible, cloud-based platform offers policy, billing and claims administration capabilities that prioritise connectivity, speed and configurability.

At Genasys, Ed will report to Gavin Peters, Chief Marketing Officer, who joined the company in 2022 as its first VP of Marketing. In September 2023, Gavin was promoted to CMO and now oversees the company’s global marketing strategy and execution. Ed’s appointment signals the business’s continued investment in senior marketing talent as it gears up for further growth across international markets.

Commenting on his appointment, Ed Halsey said:

“It’s felt almost inevitable that I’d one day join the Genasys team and I couldn’t be happier that the stars have aligned to make this happen now. I’ve often talked independently about how much I believe in the Genasys platform and team, so when the opportunity arose, I couldn’t resist. I’m delighted to join their mission to make insurance easier and more rewarding for insurers, MGAs, brokers and their customers.”

Gavin Peters, Chief Marketing Officer at Genasys, added:

“It’s a real pleasure to welcome Ed to our growing Genasys Marketing team. Ed is a respected industry expert who shares our Genasys passion to deliver insurance technology with a difference. He really understands both the current needs of insurance businesses and the potential opportunities to transform operations and customer experiences. Being able to attract someone of Ed’s calibre, to add to our senior team, is a great reflection of the traction we’re making in existing markets and our confidence in our growth strategy as we expand our proposition across the globe.”
