Insurance API integration

Build your insurance technology ecosystem

Over 450 documented API endpoints connect Genasys to your CRM, finance, data and rating systems, so you choose the best tool for each job instead of relying on one closed system.

Book a Demo

A monolithic system ties you to its own CRM, rating, payments and data tools, and every change waits on the vendor. The Genasys REST API and integrations framework connect the partners you choose to your policy administration system without core development, so you can add, swap or remove tools as your business changes.

Insurance software integrations in practice

Six of the jobs our clients hand to partner systems through the Genasys API, and the partners already connected for each.

Use case
What it does
Existing integrations
Payments

Collect premiums and pay claims

Take payments at quote and renewal and pay out claims, with each transaction recorded against the policy in Genasys.

Existing integrations
Data enrichment

Enrich quotes at underwriting

Pull credit, fraud, sanctions and property data into the quote as it is underwritten, so pricing and referral rules work from verified data.

Existing integrations
CRM

Keep your CRM in step

Customer, policy and claims changes reach your CRM as real-time events, so sales and service teams see the same record as underwriting.

Existing integrations
Rating and pricing

Price with an external rating engine

Call a specialist rating engine from inside the Genasys quote journey and return the premium without re-keying.

Existing integrations
Data analysis

Report from live policy data

Feed policy, premium and claims data into your dashboards as it changes, instead of waiting for overnight extracts.

Existing integrations
Financials

Post to your finance ledger

Send premiums, commissions and claim payments to your accounting system, so finance works from the same numbers as underwriting.

Open architecture

Benefits of insurance API integration

Open architecture lets you build your insurance technology around the best tool for each job, with Genasys as the policy administration core that connects them all.

Replace tools, keep your core

Swap a CRM, rating engine or data provider without replacing your policy administration system. Your products, policies and data stay exactly where they are.

Launch new distribution channels

Connect broker portals, aggregators and embedded insurance partners through the API, so customers can quote and buy inside a partner’s own journey.

Enrich underwriting data

Pull credit, fraud, sanctions and property data into quotes at the point of underwriting from providers such as Experian, TransUnion and Percayso.

End re-keying between systems

Policy, customer and claims data moves automatically between Genasys and your finance, CRM and reporting tools, so staff stop entering the same data twice.

Report from one source of truth

Real-time events keep your Power BI dashboards, finance ledgers and CRM records in step with your policy data as it changes.

Migrate off legacy systems gradually

Run Genasys alongside a legacy platform, move books across in stages and switch the old system off once everything has moved.

Open Architecture · Genasys

No single vendor builds the best version of everything. We built Genasys to connect to the ones that do.

How to integrate your insurance systems with Genasys

Most integrations follow the same four-step process, from the first workshop through to live data flowing between systems. Whether you’re connecting a pricing engine, CRM, payment provider or accounting platform, Genasys can deliver the integration or work alongside your own development team.

Scope the integration

We begin by defining what connects, what data moves in each direction and what business events should trigger activity.

This ensures the integration reflects your operational workflows rather than forcing changes to existing processes.

Typical triggers

  • New customer created
  • Quote generated
  • Policy bound or renewed
  • Claim updated
  • Document issued
  • Payment received

Connect securely through the Genasys REST API

The partner system connects through the Genasys REST API, which exposes 450+ documented endpoints covering customers, quotes, policies, claims, billing, documents and configuration.

Authentication uses OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect, with JWT bearer tokens issued through Microsoft Entra ID. Every request is validated by the API Gateway before reaching the platform, where additional controls such as rate limiting, IP allowlisting and audit logging provide further protection.

Alongside REST APIs, Event Notifications allow external systems to receive real-time updates whenever defined business events occur, reducing the need for polling.

Security and connectivity

  • 450+ documented endpoints
  • OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect
  • JWT bearer tokens via Microsoft Entra ID
  • API Gateway validation
  • Rate limiting and IP allowlisting
  • Audit logging
  • Real-time Event Notifications

Configure the workflow

The integration logic is configured using Genasys’ no-code workflow orchestration tools rather than relying on bespoke code for every connection.

This makes integrations easier to adapt as products, partners and processes evolve.

Workflows can

  • Transform data between systems
  • Trigger multiple downstream actions from a single event
  • Automate approvals and business processes
  • Combine API calls across several connected systems

Test in UAT, then go live

Every client receives separate Development, UAT and Production environments, allowing integrations to be built, validated and refined before any live customer data is affected.

API documentation is available to authorised customers through the secure API Gateway, with OpenAPI-powered Swagger UI enabling developers to authenticate, explore endpoints and test requests interactively during implementation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about insurance API integration and connecting to Genasys.

How do you integrate insurance systems with Genasys, and how long does it take?

Most integrations follow four steps: agree which data moves and what triggers it, connect the partner system to the Genasys REST API and its real-time events, configure the workflow in no-code tools, then test in UAT before going live. Straightforward integrations, such as a single data lookup or a notification to another system, can be set up in days. More involved work, such as a two-way sync with a CRM or a rating engine, takes longer but still avoids a full development project.

Can an open architecture platform replace a legacy monolithic insurance system?

Yes. Open architecture means the policy administration system makes its data and functions available through documented APIs, so insurers, MGAs and brokers can connect the tools they choose. A monolithic system bundles its own CRM, rating, documents and reporting, so replacing one outdated part often means replacing the whole platform. Genasys is an API-first insurance platform built the other way round: each tool can be swapped independently, and Genasys can run alongside a legacy system while books move across in stages, until the old system is switched off.

What is a REST API, and what does the Genasys policy administration API cover?

A REST API is the most widely used standard for two systems to exchange data over the web, using simple requests to create, read, update or delete information. Each endpoint handles one type of data or action, such as retrieving a policy or creating a claim. Genasys has over 450 documented endpoints covering customers, quotes, policies, documents, claims and product configuration, with real-time events telling other systems when something changes. Every call is authenticated with OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect through Microsoft Entra ID, and a governed API gateway validates each token, limits request rates and logs every transaction. There are no anonymous endpoints.

Can Genasys build the integrations for us?

Yes. The Genasys team can build and configure integrations for you, or support your own developers or integration partner. Because most integrations use the same no-code workflow tools as the rest of the platform, they are usually delivered without a bespoke development project.
