Who We Are

The Genasys story began in 1997 with a visionary founder who recognised that software was the key to revolutionising insurance efficiency and delivering exceptional customer experiences. From humble beginnings, we’ve grown into a recognised Insurtech leader, celebrating over 25 years of innovation. We have a strong foothold in South Africa and the UK, and our expansion into international markets is a testament to our continuous growth and impact. Our unwavering mission is to be the preferred software solutions partner to the insurance industry across Europe, Africa, and the rest of the world.

At Genasys, our core values of transparency, honesty, integrity, and personal accountability drive everything we do. We pride ourselves on delivering excellence in insurance technology, building lasting partnerships, and always doing what we say we will. Our comprehensive and dynamic insurance management system is a testament to our commitment to innovation. It’s a modular, cloud-based solution that can be applied to any insurance business, adapting seamlessly regardless of currency, language, or destination. With our platform, clients benefit from faster product launches and an average of 34% reduction in operating costs, enabling them to transact over £3 billion in Gross Written Premium and manage over 1.5 million insurance policies globally. Our system boasts 352 pre-configured product line templates and 486 robust, well-documented API endpoints, offering unparalleled flexibility and speed to market.

Our flagship platform provides end-to-end policy administration, covering the entire insurance policy lifecycle. This includes intuitive, no-code tools for building wholesale and retail quote-and-bind journeys, seamless renewals, mid-term adjustments, and cancellations. It empowers insurers, MGAs, and brokers to create customised, optimised workflows, manage complex currency, taxation, and multiple languages across regions, and support alternative insurance models such as parametric, micro, or embedded products. The platform is truly designed for insurance, tailored to the unique needs of each business.

We believe our people are critical to our success. We are deeply committed to fostering an environment of continuous learning and development, supporting our teams to drive technological expansion and attract top talent. Join a team passionate about making insurance better for everyone through cutting-edge technology.

About The Role

As our AI Applications Architect, you’ll take end-to-end ownership of the Genasys product AI stack – from prototype to production – building on top of foundation models rather than training them.

This is a senior/architect-level, hands-on role. We want someone who proves direction in code and running systems – spikes, prototypes, and reference implementations – rather than someone who produces speculative documents and diagrams.

Architecture here exists to serve the software that ships.

You will:

  • Design, build, and ship AI-powered features and services:  agents, retrieval, tool-use, orchestration, evaluation as working software, not just designs.
  • Establish the patterns, guardrails, and reusable building blocks the wider team uses to add AI capabilities safely and consistently.
  • Own model selection, prompt/agent design, context management, cost and latency trade-offs, and the evaluation harness that keeps quality measurable.
  • Deliver production features across the full stack – TypeScript/JavaScript front to back – integrating AI capabilities into the Genasys platform.
  • Write, review, and merge production code regularly, setting the engineering quality bar through what you ship.
  • Enable and uplift the wider engineering team through pairing, code review, working examples, and hands-on mentorship.
  • Set pragmatic technical direction for the AI stack – proven in code, with just-enough architecture, always backed by something running.

What does success look like

  • You’ve shipped a first production AI feature end-to-end, and the team can see – in running code – how AI capability gets added to the platform.
  • Other engineers are extending the AI stack using the patterns, guardrails, and building blocks you’ve established, without needing to ask you how.
  • Model selection, prompt/agent design, and quality are backed by a working evaluation harness.
  • The team’s confidence and capability with LLM / agentic engineering has visibly grown through your mentorship, pairing, and code review.
  • Technical direction for the AI stack is documented just enough, and every decision is backed by something running rather than a speculative document.
  • AI features are performant, secure, and POPIA/GDPR-aware by design, not as an afterthought.

About You

You’re naturally curious and passionate about continuous learning, and you’re already deeply hands-on with modern AI tooling. You have good communication, facilitation, and leadership skills, and you enjoy sharing knowledge with your team as much as learning from them.

You have:

  • An IT qualification or extensive equivalent technical development experience.
  • A proven track record shipping production software as a senior/lead full-stack engineer. You are a builder with code and delivered products to point to.
  • Deep, current expertise in JavaScript and TypeScript across the full stack (Node.js server-side and modern front-end; Angular experience a strong plus given the Genasys stack).
  • Hands-on experience building on top of LLMs / foundation models – prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, tool-use / function calling, agents, and evaluation.
  • Solid understanding of the SDLC, API design, testing, debugging, and production support.
  • Understanding of scalability, high-availability, application performance monitoring, and cloud platforms.
  • Strong application and data security knowledge, including secure handling of PII and privacy-regulation awareness (POPIA / GDPR).

The following will be an added advantage:

  • Experience with the Anthropic stack. The Claude API and agentic tooling such as the Anthropic Agent platform.
  • Familiarity with the Genasys stack context: .NET/C#, SQL Server, and integration patterns with observability/OTel tooling.
  • Insurance, Insurtech, financial services, and/or FinTech knowledge and experience.
