A Christmas Ad With A Difference

This Christmas, Genasys is embracing the festive spirit with The Gift of Time, a heartwarming yet humorously melodramatic homage to the classic, big-budget Christmas advert. Created using the latest AI tools for visuals, animations, and music, the campaign demonstrates the evolution of technology and shows what’s possible, on a budget, when innovation meets creativity.

The advert tells the story of Lloyd Binder, a fictional underwriter overwhelmed by admin on Christmas Eve. The ad was produced entirely in-house by the Genasys marketing team, having evolved from a simple storyboard into a fully animated advert.

Gavin Peters, CMO of Genasys, explained:

“At Genasys we always challenge ourselves to use technology in innovative ways, whilst always showcasing how we support our customers in our storytelling. What began with a simple pitch and storyboard from the team, was rapidly recognised as an opportunity to create content that arguably challenges some of the biggest brand creatives in the world, without the budget.”

“We felt that, whilst this is clearly designed to articulate the values of Genasys, in a broader sense it showcases how you can use technology to create amazing results without the costs you might expect.”

Genasys VP of Marketing, Ed Halsey, said:

“Having been an underwriter myself, I wanted to tell  a story that I knew would resonate within the industry. How many times did I wish that I could do more, faster so that I could get home at a decent hour? Too many.”

“I had used several Gen-AI tools in recent months to pull together various projects, but nothing as sizeable as this. The more I explored, the more I realised just how much could be achieved and the more ambitious the project became.”

“This is where AI works best: as a tool to fast-track and refine creative ideas, not to replace the creativity itself. The more guidance you give it, the better the result. By staying hands-on throughout the process, we were able to ensure the story felt authentic and uniquely ours.

“Our hope is that this campaign encourages others to think about what’s possible when you combine technology and imagination. The tools are there – it’s just about having the vision to use them and the confidence to aim higher.”

This process demonstrates not only the power of AI as a creative tool but also the potential for small teams to achieve big-budget results with a little creativity, patience and ambition. By combining innovation technology and imagination, we were able to craft a Christmas ad that resonates with audiences and tells a story that’s uniquely ours.
