Built for what you underwrite, not what you place

Your broker management system runs your brokerage and the risks you place. Underwriting under delegated authority is a different job: building products, setting the rules and reporting back to capacity providers. Genasys is built for that job, alongside your broker system.

Bordereaux and performance reporting for capacity providers

Generate and reconcile bordereaux for each capacity provider from the same policy, premium and claims data you trade on, and give them the performance reporting they ask for without rekeying a spreadsheet.

  • Risk and paid bordereaux generated and reconciled for each capacity provider.
  • Dashboards and scheduled reports on premium, policies, renewals and claims with the 4Sight Data Warehouse and Power BI.
  • Claims tracking and underwriting insights that show how each scheme is performing.

Underwriting criteria you can adjust yourself

When a capacity provider changes its appetite, change your question sets, rating and rules in the no-code product builder and put them live, without waiting for a development release.

  • Set “if this, then that” rules that auto-rate, refer or decline risks outside your authority.
  • Reprice a scheme or tighten underwriting criteria in-house.
  • Start new bespoke products from over 350 pre-configured templates.

A clear audit trail for every capacity provider

Every quote, bind, mid-term adjustment, renewal and claim is recorded on the policy record, so you can show a capacity provider exactly what was written, when and on what terms.

  • Each step from quote to renewal recorded in the policy history.
  • Policy documents generated from live data and kept in a secure, auditable repository.
  • Premium, commission and payments traceable from source to reconciliation.

Schemes, programs and capacity providers in one system

Run schemes, binders and programs for several capacity providers side by side, each with its own products, rules, commission and bordereaux.

  • Co-insurance and capacity splits handled natively.
  • Commission configured by broker, scheme, product or capacity provider, with multi-tier calculations, adjustments and clawbacks.
  • Multi-currency billing, with tax and levies configured by territory.

Quote and bind through your own channels

Sell your bespoke products through your own customer and broker journeys, with Genasys running the policy, claims and billing behind them.

  • Quote to bind across multiple risks on a single policy.
  • Customer portals and widgets for online quoting and self-service.
  • Connect to insurer and MGA systems through 450+ documented API endpoints.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to some of the most common questions about Genasys' delegated authority software for brokers.

What is delegated authority software, and how is Genasys different from a broker management system?

Delegated authority software is the system a broker, MGA or coverholder uses to underwrite and administer insurance on behalf of a capacity provider: rating and binding risks within an agreed authority, issuing policy documents, handling mid-term adjustments, renewals, cancellations and claims, collecting premium and reporting back through bordereaux. Genasys provides all of this on one cloud-based platform, with policy administration, claims management and billing and finance sharing a single record, and it is built around the controls a capacity provider expects: underwriting rules that auto-rate, refer or decline risks outside your authority, a full policy history and risk and paid bordereaux generated and reconciled for each provider. It is designed for bespoke and specialist products, whether you call them schemes, binders or, in the US, programs, where your underwriting expertise is the value you bring and the product has to reflect it.

A broker management system is built mainly to run a brokerage and trade with insurers, and e-trading platforms are built mainly to distribute mass-market products. Genasys is policy administration software: its primary job is the insurance products and policies themselves, from configuration and issue through mid-term changes, renewals and cancellation. A broker can run Genasys alongside its broker management system, using the broking system for business it places with insurers and Genasys for the products it underwrites and administers itself under delegated authority. Genasys is built on nearly 30 years in insurance and used by brokers like Hayes Parsons, as well as by MGAs and insurers.

How does Genasys help brokers manage bordereaux and report to capacity providers?

Bordereaux are produced from the same policy, premium and claims data you trade on, so there is no rekeying from spreadsheets and no second version of the truth. Genasys generates risk and paid bordereaux for each capacity provider and reconciles paid bordereaux against the premium actually collected, with any variances listed for review. Because each scheme, binder or program carries its own capacity provider, products, rules and commission, bordereaux for several providers come out of one system rather than several spreadsheets, and they can be produced on a schedule rather than assembled by hand at month end.

For performance reporting, Genasys includes the 4Sight Data Warehouse and is integrated with Power BI. You can build dashboards and scheduled reports on written premium, live policies, renewals, claims and commission by scheme, product or capacity provider, and give each provider the view of performance it asks for, from regular performance packs to regulatory reporting. Because premium, commission and claims are recorded on the same platform, the figures you report reconcile with the money that moves, which makes audits quicker and gives you evidence to bring to the table when you ask a capacity provider for more capacity or a new product.

How do brokers adjust underwriting criteria and stay within their delegated authority?

Underwriting criteria live in the Genasys no-code product builder, so your own team can change them. Question sets adapt to each answer, rating is configured rather than coded, and “if this, then that” rules auto-rate, refer or decline a risk and add endorsements or exclusions as it is quoted. When a capacity provider changes its appetite, asks you to tighten criteria for a class or reprices a scheme, you make the change in-house and put it live, rather than raising a change request and waiting for a development release while business is written on out-of-date rules. Risks that fall outside your authority are referred rather than bound, so the authority your capacity provider has given you is enforced at the point of quote.

New bespoke products start from over 350 pre-configured templates, including multi-section products, with policy documents such as a dynamic schedule and statement of fact generated from the policy data. Hayes Parsons launched a new yacht insurance product for its sister company, Admiral Marine, in 10 days, complete with auto-rating, referrals and declines, legal expenses cover and a full customer onboarding process. See how speed to market works in Genasys.

How does Genasys give capacity providers clear auditability and control?

Every quote, bind, mid-term adjustment, renewal, cancellation and claim is recorded on the policy record, so you can show a capacity provider exactly what was written, when and on what terms. Policy, claims and customer documents are generated from live data and kept in a secure, auditable document repository. On the finance side, premium, commission and payments stay traceable from source through to reconciliation, every claims settlement is recorded on the claim and in your financials, and payment prevention rules stop a payment that breaks your rules.

Control is built in as well as recorded. Underwriting rules enforce your authority at the point of quote, commission is configured by broker, scheme, product or capacity provider with clawbacks where business is cancelled, and each capacity provider's schemes, rules, commission and bordereaux are kept separate even when you run several side by side. Genasys is hosted in the UK, EU, US and South Africa (configured to meet client data residency requirements), and the Genasys platform page covers its security and compliance in detail.

How much does Genasys cost and what is the commercial model?

Genasys has a flexible and transparent commercial model. Pricing is typically based on the gross written premium (GWP) processed through the platform, with an initial setup cost followed by a monthly licence fee. We are firmly against price walking, so pricing stays fair and predictable, because long-term partnerships should be built on trust and consistency. We take time at the outset to understand, scope, solution and document what you need, which means no surprises and the confidence to proceed.

The setup cost reflects what is in scope: the number of schemes, products, capacity providers, integrations and documents to configure and any data to move, which is why the scope is agreed before the project starts. Because Genasys is modular, you can start with the modules you need and add policy administration, claims or billing as your delegated authority business grows. And because it is configured rather than custom-built, changes after go-live, such as new products, repricing and new underwriting rules, are made by your own team with the no-code tools rather than through development projects, which keeps the cost of change, and your reliance on your system provider, low over the life of the platform.
