The Genasys Story

The Genasys story began in 1997 with a founder who recognised that software was the key to improving insurance efficiency and customer experience. We have grown into a recognised insurtech leader with over 25 years behind us, a strong foothold in South Africa and the UK, and expansion under way into international markets. Our mission is to be the preferred software solutions partner to the insurance industry across Europe, Africa and the rest of the world.

Our core values are trust and transparency, honesty and integrity, personal accountability and developing our people. Our platform is a modular, cloud-based insurance management system that can be applied to any insurance business regardless of currency, language or destination. Clients launch products faster and cut operating costs by an average of 34%, transacting over £3 billion in Gross Written Premium and managing over 1.5 million policies globally. The system has 352 pre-configured product line templates and 486 documented API endpoints.

The platform covers the entire policy lifecycle: no-code tools for wholesale and retail quote-and-bind journeys, renewals, mid-term adjustments and cancellations. It lets insurers, MGAs and brokers build customised workflows, manage complex currency, taxation and multi-language requirements across regions, and support alternative models such as parametric, micro or embedded products.

We believe our people are critical to our success. We are deeply committed to fostering an environment of continuous learning and development, supporting our teams to drive technological expansion and attract top talent.

Join a team passionate about making insurance better for everyone through cutting-edge technology.

About the Role

The Project Manager is responsible for the successful delivery of assigned client projects, from initiation through to go-live, closure and handover. You will plan, execute, monitor and control complex software implementation projects in line with agreed scope, budget, timelines, technical requirements and client expectations.

This is a delivery ownership role, not a coordination-only role. You will own the delivery truth: a clear, accurate and evidence-based view of what is complete, what is blocked, what is at risk, what depends on the client or internal teams, and what decisions are required. You will manage client communication proactively, maintain strong governance and reporting discipline, control scope and change, and make sure risks, issues and dependencies are identified and acted on early.

You will join the Project Delivery division, reporting to the Chief Delivery Officer and working with teams across Architecture, Development, Product, Quality, Configuration, Data, Training, Finance, Customer Success and Operations.

The role suits someone who thrives in a fast-moving SaaS environment where priorities shift, technical dependencies matter and strong follow-through is essential.

This is a hybrid role based at our Rosebank office in Johannesburg, with two days per week in the office and travel to client sites as needed.

You will be accountable for:

  • Financial Planning, Forecasting & Handover
  • Project Delivery Ownership
  • Delivery Governance, Risk & Issue Management
  • Jira, Tooling & Delivery Truth
  • Client Communication & Stakeholder Management
  • Scope, Commercial & Change Management
  • Project Control & Documentation

What Does Good Look Like?

  • You always know the true delivery position, and Jira, project plans, reporting and client communication are aligned with one another.
  • Jira reflects delivery reality, with accurate requirements, estimates, assignees, statuses, blockers and dependencies, and status terms such as dev complete, ready for UAT and accepted for go-live are used consistently.
  • Clients never need to chase Genasys for a status update, because communication is proactive, accurate and transparent.
  • Risks, issues and dependencies are actively managed rather than passively recorded: each has an owner, a due date, an impact assessment and an escalation route.
  • Problems are solved within the project team wherever possible, and escalations are early, evidence-based and decision-ready, with clear options and a recommendation.
  • Scope movement is spotted early and managed through the correct change control process, and commercial risks are never hidden inside delivery conversations.
  • Difficult messages are delivered clearly, professionally and with evidence, and client confidence is protected through follow-through.
  • Process discipline is balanced with commercial pragmatism: you operate at pace without losing control of detail.

Measuring Success

  • Delivery against agreed milestones, scope and budget.
  • Accuracy and timeliness of project reporting, client updates and SteerCo materials.
  • Quality of Jira hygiene and alignment between tooling and delivery reality.
  • Strength and consistency of client communication.
  • Early identification and management of risks, issues and dependencies, and the quality of escalations.
  • Effectiveness of scope and change control.
  • Internal and client stakeholder confidence.
  • Accuracy of financial and commercial inputs, including forecasting, revenue recognition, invoicing and time logging.
  • Quality of handover into support and completion of project closure, sign-off and lessons learned.
  • Contribution to the continuous improvement of the Genasys delivery model.

About You

Your skills and competencies:

  • Strong delivery ownership, with the ability to create confidence through clarity, evidence and follow-through.
  • Excellent communicator, able to engage clearly with client teams, technical teams, senior leadership and commercial stakeholders.
  • Comfortable managing clients, challenging constructively and bringing structure to complex or ambiguous situations.
  • Treats technical dependencies as risks to be managed, not excuses to be passed upwards.
  • Commercially aware, with good judgement and strong planning discipline.
  • Escalates early and in a decision-ready format, avoiding upward delegation.
  • Calm under pressure, highly organised, professionally credible and solutions-orientated.
  • Understands the difference between reporting activity and owning delivery.

Your experience and qualifications:

  • Strong experience managing client-facing technology delivery projects, ideally within SaaS, software implementation, insurance technology, financial services or another complex delivery environment.
  • A strong understanding of Agile, hybrid and waterfall methodologies, and the judgement to apply the right approach to each situation.
  • Experience in IT solution implementation, project governance, planning, dependency tracking, RAID, status reporting, change control and stakeholder management.
  • Hands-on experience with Jira, Confluence or similar delivery management tools.
  • Experience managing multiple workstreams, competing priorities, cross-functional delivery teams and senior client stakeholders.

The following will be an advantage:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification and project management certification.
  • Insurance, insurtech or regulated-sector experience, particularly delivering policy administration, claims, billing, migration, integration, reporting, workflow or configuration projects.
  • Experience supporting Statements of Work, delivery estimates, assumptions, milestones or commercial planning.
  • Experience with Proggio, MS Project or similar planning tools.
