Interim Chief Operating Officer

An interim focus:

We are seeking a highly commercial, effective, focused, and inspirational Chief Operating Officer who can join the business full-time. We accept that good things take time, so we are seeking to onboard an interim COO on a three (3) to six (6) month contract.  During this period, the focus of the role would be to support the team in delivering key projects and meeting key objectives.


About the role:

The Chief Operating Officer is a strategically focused position that will provide strategic and operational leadership and direction to the business. In this role, you will be instrumental in fostering innovation, and continuous improvement, driving operational excellence, and software delivery.

Partnering closely with the Group-CEO, you will oversee the delivery of key strategic business goals, SaaS software development, and delivery, together with professional services. This will include optimizing the company’s operating capabilities, implementing strategies to maximize client engagement and satisfaction, and implementing effective operational and financial procedures that support efficient and cost-effective operations, ensure an excellent client experience, and enable sustainable growth.


Reporting structure:

You will have 3 direct reports who are all on the executive management level and who respectively oversee the Professional Services division, the Software Solutions division, and the Project Implementation division.


Key responsibilities of the role:
  1. Operational Leadership
  • Develop and implement operational strategies to support the company’s overall mission and objectives.
  • Oversee all aspects of operational activities, including but not limited to customer support, project management, quality assurance, and resource allocation.
  • Streamline internal processes to improve efficiency, scalability, and profitability.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track operational performance and drive continuous improvement.


  1. Software Delivery Management
  • Lead the software delivery team to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of SaaS solutions to clients.
  • Collaborate closely with product management and development teams to prioritize features, plan releases, and manage product roadmaps.
  • Implement best practices for software development, deployment, and maintenance to ensure the reliability and scalability of our platform.
  • Drive innovation and technological advancements to maintain our competitive edge in the market.


  1. Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Developing, reviewing, and reporting on key metrics, implementing continuous improvement initiatives to ensure we meet or exceed our goals.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration and teamwork across departments to ensure alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Work closely with sales, marketing, and customer success teams to understand client needs, gather feedback, and drive product enhancements.
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop and execute strategic initiatives that drive growth and profitability.
  • Be instrumental in the implementation of new technology and innovative solutions that can enhance operations, streamline processes, and improve efficiency.
  • Working with the People Team, on the development of more efficient people operations, for internal processes such as onboarding, learning and development, and talent.


About you:

Our ideal candidate will have the following experience skills:

  • Deep understanding of the Insurance industry.
  • Experience as a COO or in a similar senior operational leadership role, with proven experience in the successful delivery of key strategic business goals.
  • Proven background and understanding of the operations within software development and SaaS delivery, ideally within the insurance industry.
  • Extensive managerial experience in multi-disciplinary teams and well-developed management skills – both principles and people.
  • Highly commercial and able to understand and drive improvements in the growth drivers of the business.
  • Highly effective and focused, with inspirational leadership skills
  • Possessing the credibility, gravitas, and integrity to lead significant organisational change and to deliver sustainable stakeholder relationships and innovative change.
  • Sound administrative and reporting skills.
  • Be resilient, tenacious, and adaptable.
