Well, what a year 2022 was. We may have turned 25 years old, but the celebrations seem to be a blur now as we’ve had so many other things on the go.
Here are just a few of them…
We added to our talent.
We welcomed over 35 people to the team over the past 12 months, including executives Bart Patrick (Chief Revenue Officer), Ian Pettifor (Chief Financial Officer) and Gavin Peters (Vice President of Marketing).
We continued investing in client relationships, old and new.
We built even richer, deeper partnerships on the shared mission to improve how insurance is done for everyone – from continuing to partner with SA Home Loans – the largest non-bank home load provider in South Africa, to teaming up with Simplyhealth to help the UK’s leading health solutions company move to a single policy platform, migrating over a million health plans, in a multi-year project.
We gave ourselves a makeover.
We went lighter and brighter and built ourselves a new website. But it’s not done yet. Keep an eye on the site for more changes in the new year.
We spoke… a lot.
Never ones to turn down a podcast or conference, you would have had to have been living under a rock not to have seen at least one of our leadership team sharing their insurtech insight on hot topics from blockchain to babies in the boardroom across the insurance media in 2022. Here are a few of our faves:
And it wasn’t just media appearances: we created and collaborated on a whole host of content to set insurance companies on the path to truly transformative digital evolution.
We turned 25.
From a kitchen-table startup in 1997 to a global insurtech with clients in 23 countries – the past 25 years have been nothing short of an adventure. And we wouldn’t be here without our people. Thank you to each Genasys team member – past and present – for making us who we are.
We got involved.
We continued our sponsorship of the Mofolo Knights (for the 9th year) and kitted them out with new shoes, shirts, shorts, soccer balls and kit bags.
We also sprayed our hair in support of CANSA, wore slippers for the Reach for a Dream Foundation, dressed as Superheroes for Cupcakes of Hope, donated to Santa Cause for Paws, wore our flipflops for the Childhood Cancer Foundation (CHOC) and made Santa Shoeboxes to gift to children over Christmas.
The second edition of our annual Tour de InsurTech took place in September where 42 industry leaders cycled over stages in London, Tunbridge Wells, Nottingham, Bristol and Reading – covering just short of 300 miles. The success of the event has promised a third tour for 2023.
We held our first hackathon! Genasys colleagues were invited to submit ideas that the company could implement that would either improve the lives of our clients and/or their clients; enhance our existing products; or enhance our internal processes/workflow/systems/quality. Three teams were selected as finalists to present their ideas to an esteemed panel of judges.
Congratulations to Wilrie du Preez and Ferdi O’Brien for walking away as the first hackathon winners. We look forward to their low-code process flows idea turning into a reality over the coming months.
